Symbols - Released 1994 on These Records / 2005 on Barbed Records

The first Barbed album was self titled, but came to be called 'Symbols'. It was recorded between 1988 - 1993 and released in 1994 on These Records.
Described as 'low quality hi fi' by The Lizard, this may be the first officially Lo-Fi record. Which is nothing to be proud of in retrospect.

It was fabulous of course.

Option called it 'the funniest, most musically inventive electronic recording in many moons'. Lizard Magazine said it was 'Brilliant'. EST called it 'precision engineered for maximum home hifi happiness'. Edwin Pouncey declared Barbed 'the natural successors to Perrey & Kingsley, whose 'Popcorn' classic still dominates the interlude section in suburban cinemas everywhere'. Well, maybe it did in 1994.
